My Spring Skincare Routine

Hey everyone!

With spring halfway done and summer just around the corner, we all definitely want to look our best at all times! Honestly, I have to say a good skincare routine and healthy skin can really make you look so much more alive and can really add a great touch to a good outfit. Also let’s face it; in the day and age of the selfie, nothing is more important than a good face.Having struggled with acne and random breakouts for years, the anxiety to search for the best products (often at the expense of my wallet) was  huge  for me. Let’s just say no product is perfect but some are definitely better than others. I love to switch up what I use once in a while but always have my go-to holy grails. I’m currently obsessed with a few products by brands such as Kiehl’s as well as LANEIGE, and have put together my everyday skincare routine to help YOU overcome even the most difficult of skins. ‘Yoncé wakes up flawless and so can you with the following:

1. Cleansing and refreshing

The first step to every skincare routine is dampening your face and naturally this is the case here as well. This is one of my favorite parts of my routine because it’s just so cooling and refreshing and splashing water really feels like you’re getting dirt off while feeling commercial-worthy. Then, simply apply your cleanser of choice directly to your face or even  better to a cleansing brush such as the Clarisonic or the Foreo which are two magic-working products in themselves. Personally, I am currently enjoying Kiehl’s Calendula Foam Cleanser . This cleanser feels really light an so natur-ey (is that a word?) and doesn’t leave your skin tight at all. It also comes in a big bottle and will last you a long time, because even a little bit goes a long way!

2. Tone it Up

The second and very important step in my routine is  using a toner! This product helps even out the pH  (I put a link to that ’cause I can’t explain science) of your face and it also helps close pores that are pretty much burst open after your cleansing (and even after applying a mask). It even removes any remaining debris on your face after having cleansed. A true little miracle worker! To complement the calendula cleanser, I’m using Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner and I really love it! Simply put, it’s super effective and you can really see and feel the calendula plant pieces in the toner; it’s like mother nature herself is helping you look good!

3. The Serum-ony

Did you think washing your face would be enough to call it a day? Nope! Cleansing and exfoliating may leave your skin feeling a bit dry (also depends on your type of skin) and so applying a serum right after is a good way to get your skin hydrated. What makes a serum magical is the fact that the molecules (again with the science) are much smaller than usual and penetrate the skin quicker and more efficiently. Also, the ingredients are more concentrated and work better! One of the best serums for drier skin (or any skin in the winter) is the Laneige Water Bank Essence Serum It is super light, the bottle pump is great and will keep your skin hydrated for up to 24 hours! I usually go through my routine twice a day, but what I love about this product is that even if I skip the routine once I won’t start to get a flakey face. The serum application should take the longest out of your whole routine; make sure to rub in the product area and squeeze it onto the drier areas of your face. This step is so crucial i love to call it a serum-ony !

4. Moisturize and hydrate

Last but not least,  it’s time to lock in all of your skin’s moisture and complete your routine.  Although serums are more potent, a thicker moisturizer is absolutely necessary to come and create a hydrating barrier that will lock in all the nutrients. Serums and moisturizers kinda go hand-in-hand; one is much less effective without the other. And so to complement the LANEIGE water bank line, I’m currently using the LANEIGE Water Bank Moisturizer  which is great and, just like its serum counterpart, very hydrating.

And that’s all for my everyday skincare routine! Pretty easy right? Personally I prefer to follow it twice a day (morning and night) but you can always adjust it to your preferences. If you’re currently struggling with acne, don’t worry! An occasional breakout is completely normal even for everyone, and I’ve learned to start caring less about them. Anyway, I really hope my routine will work for you and let me know what results you get from it! If you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to send me a message on any of my social media and I’ll be glad to answer!
